Ms. Kock

About Me

My name is Alyssa Kock, and this is my third year here at LB! Although my first year was in 5th grade, I’ve been in 4th grade since and loving every minute of it! My favorite subject to teach would definitely be Math because I love seeing my kiddos find new ways to solve problems that works best for them. Aside from academics, my favorite word to use is kindness as my kiddos are rockstars on finding new ways to spread joy! Our schedule is pretty consistent every day. We start our morning off with a meeting to discuss our day/feelings/quote and joke of the day to make sure we begin our morning with a smile. We then always complete Spelling, Reading, and Math before we head to one of our specials (Music, Art, PE, or Guidance). After lunch and recess, we do the coolest thing ever and get to SWITCH for Science and Social Studies (always the hit in 4th grade as it’s their first year leaving their homeroom). After switches, our last subject for the day is English before we end our day with Typing Agent and a mini version of a Study Hall. We are booked and busy bees learning all day! Outside the classroom, I also coach JV basketball and assist with varsity.

Although teaching is my greatest passion, I have many favorites I like to stay busy with outside of school. I love anything sports, especially if it involves black and yellow - LB Eagles, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are my go to! I enjoy anything that involves being outside in the sun, but some of my favorite outdoor activities would be boating, running, or following/playing sports with my nieces and nephew. A couple “fun” facts about me are that I never tried peanut butter, chocolate milk, or tacos until college (and they’re now my favorites) and I also am not a cat or dog fan - sorry pet lovers! Overall, my favorite moments in life have either included my students, my family, or my closest friends which goes to show the importance of surrounding yourself with your favorite humans and appreciating/living in the moment (even the small ones)!
